02: mind map.
From my initial idea, I was still a bit confused on the next step I had to take. To help me continue the process, as well as fulfill the requirement of the assignment, I made a mind map.
So branching off the concept of exclusion, I explored several key terms, such as the flow, aesthetic, style and other details.
I found that I want to go for an alternate universe, where it's not quite based on reality, maybe on a dreamy island kind of location. The flow of the story will follow the act of a character discovering themselves. I also wanted to add the concept of trauma revealing itself in a dream sequence / flashback. As a result of trauma, there will be growth.
In regards to the character, they should have a unique quality that makes them different from the norm, but not too special that it's not relatable. I want to make them humanoid to have more possibilities in the variation of their abilities.
As for the animation, I want to experiment with the possibility of making a 2D character (ToonBoom) in a 3D environment (Maya). The art style will be inspired by indie video games.
